Erik ten Hag, the manager of Manchester United, has updated the public on his preparations for the Old Trafford derby against City on Saturday.

At a press conference to promote the eagerly awaited Old Trafford match, the manager was questioned about the latest at Carrington, where the Reds have been practicing in advance of the 12:30 GMT start.

Wout Weghorst, a potential loan signing, won't be available, though Ten Hag said a deal with Burnley for the striker is "near."

Diogo Dalot was replaced by Aaron Wan-Bissaka in the first half of the Carabao Cup quarterfinal victory over Charlton Athletic.

"I think Diogo Dalot is not available and Anthony Martial, he trained this morning so we have to wait to see how he recovers from this training and if he's available. We will make the decision tomorrow.

"It is a small thing in his leg [with Martial] and, if he is not available for tomorrow, it will be Wednesday [at Crystal Palace]."

Weghorst, a Netherlands international who would have bolstered the team's attacking options had he been signed before the deadline to participate in the game, is still awaiting confirmation of a loan deal.

"Weghorst wasn't available in the last weeks and it could be a bonus if he was," added Ten Hag. "Hopefully, he will soon be there and also we are winning a lot of games without Anthony Martial.''

Jadon Sancho and Donny van de Beek are also expected to miss time due to recent injuries.
